Rebecca Scott

A little about me...

Principal Rebecca Scott started in theatre when she was 12 years old with Dryburn Theatrical Workshop, a local theatre group. Whilst there, she discovered her love of dance, singing and drama, and since then, has danced in many pantomimes and musicals, as well as travelling around the North East performing in many different venues and theatres. Rebecca also holds a First Class BA Honours Degree in Event Management from Sunderland University.

As Principal of Razzamataz Theatre School Durham, Rebecca strives to create a supportive and fun environment for students to learn and develop skills, boost their confidence and to create new friends.

Emma Coulson

Assistant Principal

Emma has been in amateur theatre since she was 11 years old, and has played many iconic roles such as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Morticia Addams in The Addams Family, and Rizzo in Grease. During the day, she works for the National Youth Choir, and is excited to combine her training in her day job with the love of her hobby to the students at Razzamataz.

Aimee Johnson

Dance/Tots Tutor

Aimee is 26 years old, and lives in Hartlepool. She teaches PE, dance specialist in a Secondary School, and has done gymnastics since she was 3 years olds, and then moved onto dance when she was 5. She trained in all styles from jazz to tap to acro. She went to college to dance and also continued to get my Professional Dance Degree!

Rebecca Charlton

Drama Teacher/Minis & Juniors Teacher

Rebecca is a facilitator, director and performer specialising in community and applied theatre. She graduated from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London in 2021 and has since worked with lots of incredible theatre companies – performing and directing professionally. In 2022, Rebecca took 7 months off to backpack around South East Asia, and since returning has loved getting back in to the world of theatre.

Niamh Wheatley

Minis & Juniors Teacher

Niamh is 20 years old and is currently in her second year at university studying Criminology. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and fell in love with everything else performing arts shortly afterwards! Her favourite role that she has ever played was Miss Baltimore Crabs in Hairspray!

Anya Siou

Vocal Coach

Anya has been performing since she was 8, and has wanted to be a performer ever since. She loves singing and music, and her favourite musical artists are Mitski and Phoebe Bridgers. She has performed in many musicals, including Calendar Girls, Six, and Whistle Down the Wind. She would love to move to London one day!

Molly Hodge

Classroom Assistant

Molly joined Razzamataz as a student 8 years ago, and grew up through our classes. Now 17, she has joined us as Classroom Assistant! She currently studies Music Performance at College, and has participated in many of Razz's performances over the years, including Disneyland Paris and London's West End!

Antonia Johnson

Classroom Assistant

Antonia has loved theatre since she was little, so much so she has studied it at GCSE and A Level! She recently performed as a mersister in The Little Mermaid which was a dream come true for her. She is also obsessed with history, especially the events in Pompeii, and she loves classic literature.

Karen Scott

Front of House Manager

Born in Edinburgh, Karen moved to her dad’s home city of Durham when she was 7. She went to Framwellgate Moor Comprehensive, and after leaving school worked as a telephonist for several companies before moving to Spain in her mid 20’s. This is where she met her husband, and after working in London for a few years they both settled back in Durham. She has 2 daughters – her youngest Rebecca is the Principal of Razzamataz Durham!

Paul Scott

Front of House Manager

Born in Yorkshire, Paul did a languages degree in London (plus study year in France and Mexico) before working as a tour guide and holiday rep in Spain and Italy. A Chartered Marketer, his career has encompassed travel and PR agencies, international engineering companies, local government and education, as well as working as translator/interpreter in Madrid, with the European Commission in Brussels and projects in the Middle East. Paul now works for the NHS in Durham, which has included redeployments to support the national covid vaccination programmes. Oh, and he has two beautiful and talented daughters.
